PURPOSE:To attain copying of slave tapes of the same contents easily and simply by obtaining a data of temporary edit-end point of the slave tape making use of the edit-end point of a master tape, and thereby rewriting the data of a memory. CONSTITUTION:RAM12 is provided in an edit controller 10 in which, the edit- start point of the first brief edit work and respective edit-end points on the master tape 7 are stored, the latter being temporary edit-end points. Then, the slave tape 8 is rewound, and an unnecessary scene is cut off. For purpose of starting to edit again from the point of the said cutting off, the data in the memory 12 is so modified that a data produced by subtracting the amount of the tape 8's rewinding from the data of the respective temporary edit-end points of the slave tape 8 is made that of the edit-end point of the scene cut off of the master tape 7. In result, during second and later edit works, the running of the tape 8 is controlled based on the data of respective edit points stored in the RAM12. Therefore, slave tapes of the same contents can be easily obtained.
