PURPOSE:To obtain a polyoxy polyether having a specific structural formula, specified intrinsic viscosity, improved melt molding properties, transparency, etc., by reacting a specific components such as polyhydroxypolyoxide, etc., in a mixed solvent of two liquid phases of water and an organic solvent in the presence of a base or a phase transfer catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A polyhydroxypolyoxide shown by the formula I (R1 is aromatic hydrocarbon group such as p-phenylene, etc.; R2 is 2-6C aliphatic hydrocarbon group; p is 1-20; q is positive integer) is reacted with an aromatic diol shown by the formula II and an epihalohydrin in a mixed solvent of two liquid phases of water and an organic solvent to give a substantially linear polyhydroxy polyether with has a repeating unit shown by the formula III [m and n are positive integer and m/(m+n)=0.5-0.98], 0.3-2dl/g intrinsic viscosity and 30-120 glass transition temperature. EFFECT:Having improved barrier properties, especially to oxygen and carbonic acid gas. USE:A container material for seasoning, cosmetic, etc.
