PRODUCTION OF MODIFIED AROMATIC HYDROCARBON RESIN

摘要

PURPOSE:A resin from a specific oxygen-containing aromatic hydrocarbon which contains a reduced amount of diarylmethane and has a high xylenol value is allowed to react with an unsaturated polybasic acid to give the titled resin which forms cured products of high mechanical and thermal performance. CONSTITUTION:A resin from an oxygen-containing aromatic hydrocarbon containing less than 5wt% of diarylmethanes and having more than 15mol/kg of xylenol value is allowed to react with a part of an unsaturated polybasic acid or its anhydride such as maleic anhydride in the presence or absence of water, as steam is introduced into the reaction system. Then, the product is allowed to react with the rest of the unsaturated polybasic acid and a saturated polybasic acid to give the objective resin.
