PURPOSE:To purify human interferon-beta (IFN-beta) in high purity and yield, by contacting an IFN-beta solution with a carrier supporting insolubilized anti-human interferon-beta antibody, eluting with an elutant, contacting the eluate with an inorganic adsorbent, and eluting with an elutant. CONSTITUTION:Crude IFN-beta solution is made to contact with a carrier supporting insolubilized anti-human interferon-beta antibody at 6-8pH, preferably by column process to effect the absorption of IFN-beta. The component adsorbed to the carrier is eluted with an elutant such as an acidic buffer solution of 2-3pH. The eluate is made to contact with an inorganic adsorbed IFN-beta composed mainly of silica and phosphate, and the adsorbed IFN-beta is eluted with an elutant (e.g. a buffer solution of 2-9pH containing 10-40% ethylene glycol, etc., and 0-0.5M NaCl) to obtain purified IFN-beta.
