PURPOSE:To improve the external appearance and functioning of a car body so better, by installing an interlocking mechanism which holds a cover member covering a housing part at a closing position when a tiltable pillar situated in both rising and housing positions and, when this tiltable pillar moves between these positions, makes this cover member operate for opening. CONSTITUTION:An open-top type automobile is provided with a housing part 1 and a trunk room 2 at the rear of its body, and a rear part of a tiltable pillar 3 rising from a front part of the housing part 1 is covered with a rear cover member 4, while a rear part of the housing part 1 is covered with an on-off type cover member 6. In this case, a pinion 14 is rotated by a motor 15 via a transmission shaft 16, and furthermore a sector 13 to be engaged with this pinion 14 is rotated around a pin 9. And, with rotation of the sector 13, for example, toward a downward direction, the tiltable pillar 3 unitized with this sector is rotated rearward. Likewise, with rotation of this sector 13, the cover part 6 is interlockingly rotated upward around a pin 12 via link mechanisms 17-19.
