PURPOSE:To provide an inceased life through smooth finish of a wall surface, making contact with a metallic belt, with high precision, according to the method wherein, in a V-belt transmission device used for continuously variable transmission gears for vehicle, the portion, in which a U-shaped groove is formed, of a V-metallic member is open toward above. CONSTITUTION:The upper wall part, positioned facing the outer peripheral surface of a metallic belt 1, of a U-shaped groove is formed by a separate stopper member 6 after-attached to a V-shaped metallic member 2, and the metallic member 2 alone, is formed such that the portion, in which a U-shaped groove 5 is formed, is open toward above. Thus, the upper wall part of the groove, interrupting machining of a lower wall surface 5a of a U-shaped groove 5 and formed integrally with the V-shaped metallic member 2, is eliminated, and thereby a process such as cutting, grinding, can be employed as a machining process of the lower wall surface 5a. Further, the size of a tool can be freely selected, the lower wall surface 5a can be easily machined with high precision, and the lower wall surface 5a can be also forged for molding by the use of a mould.
