PURPOSE:To eliminate the restriction of the place and the time for graphic input by scanning optically a form containing a rough sketch of a graphic form and its auxiliary information to store them after converting them into electric signals, separating these signals into the graphic information and the auxiliary information for recognition and then converting the structure of the recognized graphic form into a command information string while decoding the contents of the auxiliary information. CONSTITUTION:When it is requested that a regular triangle 58 and then a circle 57 are reproduced and displayed on a display screen 56 of a CRT, a regular triangle 53 is drawn on an input form 51 together with an arrow head set in the shift direction at a place near a display start point. Then the auxiliary information 55 is written. A picture sensor 11 scans optically the input form on which both the graphic information and the auxiliary information are written. This scan output is stored in a picture memory 21. A collation circuit 22 collates the auxiliary information with a dictionary memory 23 for recognition of the graphic structure. This pattern structure is converted into a command information train and transferred to a storage part 3 to be stored in a storage medium 32 in order of reproduction and display.
