PURPOSE:To simultaneously control the concns. of Si and Mn of a molten iron tapped from a blast furnace by blowing Mn ore powder or Mn ore powder and iron ore powder together with pulverized coal through a blast tuyere into the blast furnace. CONSTITUTION:The concns. of Si and Mn of the molten iron in a tap hole 14 are measured by an emission spectroscopic method, etc., and the data thereon are inputted to a calculator 13 in the operation for blowing the pulverized coal from a pulverized coal storage tank 2 via a flow rate control valve 3, a flow meter 4, a blow nozzle 5, etc., through the blast tuyere 6 into the blast furnace 1. The above-mentioned data and the set concns. of Si and Mn are compared and flow rate control valves 8, 11 are controlled to blow the Mn ore powder or Mn ore powder and iron ore powder together with the pulverized coal from an Mn ore storage tank 7 and an iron ore storage tank 10 into the furnace 1. The reactions such as Si+2MnO=SiO2+2Mn, Si+2FeO=SiO2+2Fe and MnO+C=Mn+CO are thereby induced, by which Mn is enriched and the concn. of Si is decreased.
