PURPOSE:To simply display three kinds of ultrasonic images on a monochromatic monitor and a color monitor in contrast with each other, by performing the change-over of three image memories with a synchronous signal generation part. CONSTITUTION:The detection output signal being the reflected wave signal from a specimen is guided to image memories 11A-11C through a change-over switch 14 and the output terminals of the memories and the output terminal of a synchronous signal generation part 15 are connected to the input terminals of adders 16-20 through white-and-black time/color time change-over switches 17-21. The output terminals of the adders 16-20 are connected to CH1-CH3 display output terminals 22-24 and the synchronous signal generation part 15 is connected to a synchronous signal output terminal 25. When a white and black image is displayed, a white and black monitor is connected to the output terminals 22-24 and switches 17-21 are closed to supply display output to which a synchronous signal was added. When a color image is displayed, the input terminals of color monitors R, G, B are allowed to respectively correspond to the output terminals 22-24 to be connected thereto and the switches 17-21 are opened to supply the outputs of the memories 11A-11C to the monitors and the synchronous signal from the synchronous signal generation part 15 is supplied to the synchronous input terminal of each monitor.
