PURPOSE:To improve the operability and speed at editing by providing a means displaying with reduction content of one page being an editing object in a document on a display screen so as to be kept within the display screen and editing the content on the page displayed with reduction. CONSTITUTION:A formatting section 2 displays a part 8 of the content of one page being an object of edition as an initial picture plane 7 and a display size changeover menu 9 on a display section 6 via a display control section 3 as shown in figure (a) and awaits the input from an input section 1. In moving a cursor 11 on the reduction indication of the menu 9 and applying selecting input, the control section 2 receives an input signal from the input section 1 and analyzes the input signal. The control section 2 discriminates that the input signal requests the reduction of the menu 9 and outputs a reduction display request signal of the page content to a page reduction display section 4. when any edition indication is inputted from the input section 1 while all the content of page is displayed on the display picture plane as shown in figure (b), the control section 2 revises the document data stored in a storage section 5 according to the edition indication.
