PURPOSE:To operate an alarm device in accordance with the short circuit of a pair of electrodes due to water leak by arranging a trough directly under a pipe laid onto the back of a ceiling and arranging a detector equipped with at least a pair of electrodes which are short-circuited by water onto the bottom part of the trough. CONSTITUTION:When water leaks from a pipe 1, said water penetrates into a heat insulation covering 2, and water drips down into a trough 13 from the joint or divided part of the skin of the heat insulating covering 2, and a pair of electrodes 15 of a detector 14 laid on the bottom part of the trough 13 are short-circuited. The dripping water is intercepted by a partitioning plate 19 installed into the trough 13, and the flow-out to other part is prevented, and since the heat insulating cover 2 is divided, it serves for shedding water, and dripping of leak water onto other part of the trough 13 is prevented, and only the electrode 15 at the water leak position is certainly short-circuited.
