PURPOSE:To obtain a method for analyzing liquid at a low cost which permits a gradient technique by using two kinds of eluates having the eluating powers different from each other, feeding a prescribed amt. of the other eluate to a flow passage in which one eluate flows and passing alternately the eluates to a sepn. column. CONSTITUTION:The 1st eluate in a vessel 1a flows through a liquid feed pump 2a connecting ports 3a, 3b of flow passage selector valve 3 connecting ports 5a, 5b of sampling valve 5 sepn. column 6 inside chamber 7b of suppressor 7 detector 8 vessel 1d when the pump 2a is driven. The 2nd eluate flows through pump 2b connecting ports 3d, 3c of valve 3 loop 4 the 6th, 5th connecting ports 3f, 3e vessel 1e when the liquid feed pumps 2b, 2c are driven. The removed liquid in the vessel 1c flows through pump 2c outside chamber 7c of suppressor 7 vessel 1f. The ions and org. acids of the liquid to be measured are first separated by the 1st eluate and are thereafter separated by the 2nd eluate. The eluate from the column 6 is conducted to the inside chamber 7b and is subjected to a cation exchange with the removed liquid in the outside chamber 7c, by which the background of the eluate is removed.
