PURPOSE:To enhance the responsiveness of release of lock-up operation, by supplying a pressure higher than a supply pressure for a converter chamber, into a lock-up control chamber during the lock-up operation being shifted from its operating condition to its release condition to make the rise of lock-up control pressure steep. CONSTITUTION:A release pressure control valve 100 is connected to a port 103c for supplying a hydraulic pressure, as a control pressure for releasing the lock-up operation, into a lock-up control valve 30. This release pressure control valve 100 is formed therein with a port 103d for effecting a converter pressure PC fed into a converter chamber 63 and a port 103d for effecting a line pressure PL higher than the converter pressure PC. When the pressure in a lock-up control chamber 27 is lower than the converter pressure PC, a spool 101 is actuated by the pressure so that the line pressure PL rather than the converter pressure is effected for the port 103c.
