PURPOSE:To obviate the generation of drop-out and missing bits by providing projections at suitable intervals to a film so as to be arrayed in the longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:The projections 5 are provided at prescribed intervals to the position of the prescribed five points on one side of the film 1 wound on a core 2 so as to be arrayed in the longitudinal direction. The projections 3 can be obtained by chucking continuously the film 1. A spacing is therefore generated between the wound films 1 of the film 1 wound on the core 2. The gas, etc. sticking between the films 1 can be easily discharged when the film is set in a vacuum chamber 31 and the inside thereof is evacuated. The projections of the film 1 contact with, for example, guide rolls 5 and a face 1a is detached from the rolls 5 during the formation of a magnetic recording layer and therefore the generation of ruggedness on the film 1 by the ruggedness on the surface of the guide rolls 5 is obviated.
