PURPOSE:To minimize signal delay by switching properly a vertical time spatial filter and a horizontal low-pass filter according to the feature of a video signal. CONSTITUTION:A chromaticity signal from a band-pass filter 6 is subtracted from a delay signal B1 from a 1H (one horizontal scanning period) delay line 2 by a subtracter 7 to extract a luminance signal Y1 and this subtracter 7 constitutes the vertical time spatial filter part and outputs the 1st delayed chromaticity signal C1 and luminance signal Y1. A subtracter 10 outputs 10 outputs the difference between the input and output of the low-pass filter 9 to obtain the 2nd chromaticity signal G2 which is not delayed. The output of the low-pass filter 9 is the 2nd luminance signal Y2 which is not delayed. Those filter 9 and subtracter 10 constitutes the horizontal filter part. Gain control circuits 14 and 123 control the separated undelayed chromaticity signal G2 and delayed chromaticity signal G1 to gains (k) and (1-k) respectively, and those signals are added together by an adder 17 to obtain a final chromaticity signal Cf.
