PURPOSE:To simplify the position adjustment between an image sensor and an optical system by using a read frame as the position reference of the optical system of an optical picture reader. CONSTITUTION:The whole of the package of an image sensor 1 is covered with a transparent member 9, and a transparent resin is used as the transparent member 9. A pattern 7a for positioning is provided on a part of a read frame 7. If the image sensor 1 is positioned to a member 4 so that the light of a light source 11 passing a reference hole 10 provided in the member 4 coincides with a hole of the pattern 7a for positioning, it can be positioned visually. Thus, the position adjustment is disused or simplified to reduce the cost, and a high capacity is attained.
