摘要 PURPOSE:To satisfactorily correct background with good S/N without decreasing atomic absorption sensitivity by using the light having the profile in which the light intensity of the wavelength at the center of an analytical line is weaker than the light intensity near the same as correction light. CONSTITUTION:The light source is constituted by sealing a pair of the 1st negative and positive discharge electrodes 6, 7 for radiating the bright line spectra of an analytical element and a pair of the 2nd negative and positive discharge electrodes 9, 10 for generating the atomic cloud 8 of the analytical element on the optical path of the radiated light into a glass envelope 5. An auxiliary cathode 11 may be provided as the 2nd discharge electrode for generating the atomic cloud 8. The light having the profile in which the light intensity of the wavelength at the center of the analytical line is extremely weak by the absorption effect of the atomic cloud 8 of the analytical element is used as the background correction light and therefore the background is satisfactorily corrected with good S/N.
