PURPOSE:To prevent a noise and the disturbance of a screen at switching by causing both reproducing devices in the synchronous state, setting one of them in a still mode and then switching a signal to be transmitted after the mode is set to a normal reproduction mode. CONSTITUTION:A switch 42 is pressed ahead of the prescribed time from the moment an operator wants to switch a video signal outputted to a VTR 3 from a video signal reproduced by a VTR 1 to that reproduced by a VTR 2. Thus the VTR 2 is made in a play mode, and starts reproduction. Then, after the prescribed time tau1, the VTR 2 is made in a still mode. After the prescribed time tau2, the switch 41 is switched from the VTR 1 side to the VTR 2 side. Accordingly, the VTR 2 becomes a play mode, and starts reproduction. Simultaneously the video signal of the VTR 2 is outputted to the recording input of the VTR 3 through the switch 41 of a switcher 5, and the video signal of the VTR 2 is recorded.
