PURPOSE:To surely perform intermittent press-feed, by providing feed pawls to a conveyer belt so that the pawls are advanced more than the intervals of the pawls, then after being moved back less than the predetermined intervals, are raised, and are moved back and lowered to their original positions. CONSTITUTION:Workpieces fed onto a rectilinear feeder 4 are stopped abutting against one end face of a guide trough 8. At this time a push rod 19 ascends to raise a workpiece up to a level flush with the guide through 8. Then, Press transfer pawls 69 advances to press the workpiece into the trough 8. At this time the pawls 69 displace from the the position (1) to the position (2), exceeding the intervals of the pawls 69. Then, they are moved back by a distance less than their advance to the position (3). Then, they are raised to the position (4) without being made into contact with the workpiece and are returned to their original positions. Thereafter, the pawls are lowered to initiate the next conveyance. Thus, the pawls 69 successively press-feeds the workpiece by a predetermined distance in the forward direction. Thereby, it is possible to surely convey workpieces and press them into a container.
