PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a gas meter by constituting the gas meter as a single-diaphragm two-chamber type which has two measuring chambers and one diaphragm which partitions those chambers. CONSTITUTION:A meter casing 1 has a sealed space internally and the internal space is divided equally by the longitudinally arranged diaphragm 2 to form the 1st and 2nd measuring chambers I and II as two front and rear chambers. Then, gas is admitted into or discharged from both measuring chambers I and II alternately to put the diaphragm 2 in forward/backward motion, so that two wing axes which are arranged on both right and left sides in the casing, i.e. a wind shaft for a suction valve and a wing shaft for a discharge valve are put in reciprocal rotary motion within a specific rotational angle range. A counter is driven by converting the reciprocal rotary motion of arm metal whose one end is fixed to one suction valve wing shaft through a latchet mechanism on the basis of said reciprocal rotary motion.
