PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing the cleaning effect of a belt cleaner for a conveyer which conveys earth, sand, etc., and at improving the holding ability of attaching position thereof, by providing rubber support engaging sections at the center sections and lower end sections of front and rear surfaces of a cleaning plate such that these sections are connected by rubber connecting members defining trapezoidal internal spaces together with the rubber connecting members, and by supporting them by base members. CONSTITUTION:A belt cleaner is composed of a cleaning plate 1, first, second resilient engaging section 2, 3, resilient connecting members 4 and base members 5 with the first and second engaging sections 2, 3 and the resilient members 4 defining spaces 40 and spaces 41 together with the base members 5. Further, thin wall cover sections 16 are provided above the first resilient engaging sections 2 to define spaces 17 therebetween. Further, an ultrahard alloy tip 11 is made into slidable contact with a belt 7. With this arrangement the spring donstant of the cleaning plate 1 may be made small for downward load but large for horizontal load, thereby it is possible to enhance the follow-up ability of the cleaning plate.
