COLOR GRADATION CONVERTER FOR COLOR PICTURE

摘要

PURPOSE:To decrease the number of color gradations at a high speed and with high fidelity by selecting the output from the colors which are not similar to a selected color in order of larger number of color-classified picture elements in an input picture when the types of colors used in an output picture are decided. CONSTITUTION:An input picture data storage part 1 stores the input picture data having a large number of color gradations. A color-classified picture element number counting part 2 counts the picture elements for each color and sores these count results in a color-classified picture element number data storage part 3. A color selecting part 4 checks the number of color-classified picture elements in order of larger numbers and stores the colors in an output color storage part 6 as long as they can be selected. A similar color inhibiting part 5 sets a similar color inhibiting range at the places close to the colors selected successively by the part 4. Hereafter, no color is selected out of those inhibiting ranges. A color converting part 7 converts the color of an input picture stored in the part 1 based on the output color stored in the part 6.
