PURPOSE:To obtain a KANJI (Chinese character) string having desired paragraph divisions without giving any correction to the same input after the display of another KANJI string, by selecting said KANJI string display to the same input KANA (Japanese syllabary) string even in case a KANJI string having wrong paragraph divisions. CONSTITUTION:A KANA string supplied from a KANA string input part 1 is applied to a paragraph decision control part 8 via an input KANA string temporary storage part 2. A paragraph decision part 6 decides the paragraphs and an another-interpretation selection part 11 selects one of plural paragraph interpretations conceivable as Japanese words. A paragraph data storage part 7 stores the input KANA string of a selected paragraph, the number of output characters of independent words, the number of characters of additional words and the KANJI strings. The selected KANJI string is displayed at a KANJI output part 9. An additional word string extracting part 12 compares the additional word string of a paragraph selected by the part 11 with the additional word string sent from the part 7. Then different additional word strings are stored in an additional word data storage part 14.
