PURPOSE:To provide an arm rest which is remarkably manipulatable, by providing such an arrangement that the arm rest is unlocked by tilting the arm rest body while it is locked again by returning the body its original posture. CONSTITUTION:A rock plate 8 and an armrest body 9 are tilted integrally together, about a pin 5 that is, a guide roller 3 as a rotating center. This locking plate 8 has a pole 8a adapted to be fitted in a locking hole 1b formed in the side wall section of a stationary rail 1. This pole 8a is fitted into the locking hole 1b when the arm rest body 9 takes a substantially horizontal position, and abuts against the side wall section of the stationary rail 1 so that the arm rest body 9 is further rotated counterclockwise and is locked. The arm rest body 9 is held at the locked position by means of a tension spring 10 stretched between pins 1, 6 planted on the arm section of a locking plate 8.
