PURPOSE:To decide the validity/invalidity of the adjusting state of the titled device and to reduce manhours and time for checking without using an external program, manpower or an external electronic computer by providing a selecting part, a comparing part, etc. CONSTITUTION:At the time of self-diagnosis, a previously fixed document is used as a document 10 and the selecting part 200 outputs fixed document positional information to a character recognizing part 30 on the basis of a switching signal S1 outputted from a fixed document reading instruction part 100. The recognizing part 30 executes the character recognition of the document 10 and outputs the recognized result to a floppy disk 50 through an output information part 40 and also outputs the result to the comparing part 300. The comparing part 300 compares the recognized result from the information part 40 with the fixed document reading result information, and if one document has been completely read out, outputs an OK signal S2 to a display part 400. Even if many documents 10 exist, checking operation is automatically executed, the validity/invalidity of the adjusting state of the device can be decided and the manhours for checking, etc. can be reduced without using an external program, manpower or an external electronic computer.
