PURPOSE:To improve the picture quality of a large picture projection type television receiver by applying an A/D conversion to each of three color primary video signals and restoring a luminance signal after an outline/flare correction with two delayed chrominance components at a matrix circuit to the three color primary video signals. CONSTITUTION:With using an FIR filter for an outline correction and an IIR filter for a flare correction, the characteristic of a high-pass type filter is given on them. A correction signal, the amplitude of which is adjusted corresponding to the level of the luminance signal by a gain adjusting circuit, is outputted. The input of a digital signal is, for the first, inputted to a compensating delay device 25. The compensating delay device 25 is a device to adjust the phases of an outline correcting filter series (l) and of a flare correcting filter series (m) at a synthesizing circuit 26, and is equipped with two tapes, the delaying volumes of which are different. The outline correction is applied on the input from a signal line (l) through a vertical outline correctio FIR filter 21 and a horizontal outline correction FIR filter 22. On the other hand, the flare correction is applied on the input from a signal line (m) through a vertical and horizontal flare correction compound IIR filters 23 and 24 and with instantly synthesizing at the synthesizing circuit 26, a correction signal output is obtained.
