A method and a device are described for mounting an installation duct consisting of one or more long channel parts 1 for electrical cables or for example telephone wires on a wall, on which there is first mounted at least two brackets 6 to support the channel part 1, after which a fixing holder 8 is mounted on each of the brackets, which are at a distance apart which is less than the length of the channel part 1. Each fixing holder 8 has a supporting section which extends principally horizontally outwards from the bracket 6 when the fixing holder is attached to the bracket. The channel part 1 rests on the supporting sections of the fixing holders 8 and is then attached to the brackets 6 by one or more screws 22, after which the fixing holders 8 can be removed. The fixing can be carried out using self-tapping screws 22 or screws which are inserted in holes which are drilled while the channel part 1 is resting on the supporting sections of the fixing holders 8. <IMAGE>
