A guiding device in an apparatus for palletising bags, the said device aligning the said bags in a longitudinal or transverse direction, is composed of a continuous conveyor, of a first bag deflector which is arranged above the said continuous conveyor in such a way that the bags run up to the said deflector and are rotated by the continuous conveyor, and of a second bag deflector which is arranged upstream of the first bag deflector in the conveying direction, can be pivoted about a vertical axis by means of a motor and, in an inclined position, guides the bags past the first bag deflector. In order to ensure that the bags are subjected to a smaller mechanical load while they are aligned, it is proposed that an adjusting element (6) be provided which is fixedly mounted on the frame and can be adjusted in a motor-limited fashion, the adjustment path of which is aligned transversely to the conveying direction of the continuous conveyor (3) and the adjustment speed of which is greater than the conveying speed of the continuous conveyor, the adjusting element (6) being assigned to the continuous conveyor (3) in such a way that the adjusting element (6) is situated outside the bag-conveying path in one end position, while in the other end position it projects into the bag-conveying path and rotates the bags (2) out of their original alignment. <IMAGE>
