PURPOSE:To obtain the titled thin film capable of generating a nonlinear optical effect, a piezoelectricity and a pyroelectricity by controlling an orientation of a molecular polarization using specific aniline derivatives. CONSTITUTION:The titled film comprises the aniline derivative having the large molecular polarization and the compd. shown by the formula wherein R1 and R2 are each H or a hydrophobic group, R1 and R2 can not be both hydrogen atoms, R3-R5 are each H or an electron attractive group, but R3-R5 can not be all hydrogen atom, R6 and R7 are each H or an electron attractive group or an electron donative group, and is composed of the thin film having a first ordered Stark effect by an electric modulation spectroscopy controlling the molecular polarization according to for example, a Langmuir-Blodgett's (LB) technique, and having the following structure of Al electrode//CdC20 (13 layers)/PNA-18:CdC20 (a monomolecular layer)/CdC20 (a monomolecular layer)/ PNA-18:CdC20 (a monomolecular layer)/CdC20 (13 layers)//Al electrode wherein CdC20 is a Cd salt of arachidic acid, PNA-18 is an aniline derivative of formula II, CdC20:PNA-18 is a mixture thereof. The prescribed LB film has the first ordered Stark effect and is used for each elements having the non-linear optical effect, the electrooptic, the piezoelectric and the pyroelectric properties.
