PURPOSE:To check the occurrence of control turbulence, by converting a difference between setting car speed and driving one into a portion of duty variations and, when a throttle valve controlling actuator is subjected to duty control, making a control speed range of car speed-duty conversion characteristics in and around the setting car speed larger than other parts. CONSTITUTION:In the case where an automobile is made to be driven at a constant speed, a microcomputer 15 sets a car speed to be detected by a car speed detecting device 16 at the time of operation of a set switch 21 down to the setting car speed, and a difference between this setting car speed and the actual car speed is converted into a portion of duty variations, thus duty control over a solenoid valve 7 takes place. With this constitution, negative pressure (suction) is led into an operating chamber 6 of an actuator 4, and opening of a throttle valve 1 is controlled via a diaphragm 5 or the like. And, a difference between a set duty corresponding to the setting car speed and an output duty corresponding to the actual safety driving speed is decreased, but in this case, a control speed range of car speed-duty conversion characteristics in and around the setting speed is made so as to be larger than that of other parts.
