PURPOSE:To stably a tool supporting shaft by floating the tool supporting shaft in floating and turnable ways onto the static pressure bearings of the apparatus body. CONSTITUTION:The pressurized air is jetted towards the static pressure bearing spaces 27, 22, and 23 from each air pocket 17, 18 through each feeding passage 16 from the air feeding hole on the body by an air feeding device 12. Therefore, a tool supporting shaft 8 receives the static pressure in the radial and thrust directions, and is supported in static pressure ways in the noncontact state by the static pressure bearing spaces 27, 23, and 22 inside and at the both edges of a radial metal 6. A portion of the pressurized air which inflows inside is discharged outside through an exhaust hole 13 and gaps 28 and 29. Therefore, no frictional resistance is generated between the supporting shaft 8 and a cylinder par 2, and the supporting shaft 8 is stably supported in the perfectly floated-up state and can be revolved freely.
