PURPOSE:A selective herbicide, containing 2-chloro-4-isopropylphenoxyacetic acid, etc., and having improved weeding activity against broad-leaved plants without any phytotoxicity to gramineous plants. CONSTITUTION:A herbicide containing a compound expressed by the formula (R<1> and R<2> represent H, C2H5, isopropyl or tert-butyl and either one thereof is H; n is 0, 1 or 2), salt or ester thereof as an active ingredient. 2-Chloro-4- isopropylphenoxyacetic acid in the compound expressed by the formula has improved weeding activity against broad-leaved plants and is the most preferred compound particularly without phytotoxicity to rice plants. In application, the compound may be used in mixture with a solid carrier or liquid carrier.
