PURPOSE:To facilitate the steering according to the travelling conditions by constructing such that a differential lock apparatus is locked under high speed operation while unlocked under low speed operation. CONSTITUTION:A lock lever 10 is employing electromagnetic devices 11 as the driving source where said devices 11 are operated by a signal from a vehicle speed sensor 12 for detecting the vehicle speed through an engine output shaft. In other word, a differential lock apparatus 8 is unlocked during low speed rotation while locked during high speed rotation. Consequently, a differential gear device 7 will function during low speed travel to facilitate the steering operation such as quick turning. Upon the increase of the vehicle speed, the differential lock apparatus 8 will function automatically to couple both rear wheels 2 directly, improving the straight travel performance. In such a manner, the steering performance of vehicle can be improved without accompanying troublesome operation while satisfying the low speed steering performance and the high speed straight travelling performance.
