PURPOSE:To enable an ink donor film to be easily replaced and a jam of a recording sheet to be easily treated, without needlessly increasing the size of the title device itself, by disposing thermal heads in the range of one half of a peripheral part of a platen roll, and providing the platen roll so that it can be advanced toward and retracted away from each of the thermal heads. CONSTITUTION:Thermal heads 2 are disposed at regular angular intervals of about 45 deg. in the range of one half of a peripheral part, S/2, of a platen roll 1, and are pressed against the surface of the platen roll 1, with a play of about 5mm in the radial direction of the platen roll 1. To replace an ink donor film 3 by a new one, the platen roll 1 is released from a locked condition, and is moved away from the thermal heads 2, whereby a sufficiently large gap can be secured between each of the thermal heads 2 and the platen roll 1.
