PURPOSE:To obtain a paper-cutting mechanism capable of reducing useless pages, by returning a paper to a predetermined position when the next cutting instruction is absent after the paper is cut. CONSTITUTION:By a paper-feeding operation of a printer, a paper is fed to a paper-cutting position, where it is cut. When the next cutting instruction is present after the paper cutting, the paper-feeding operation and cutting are repeated. When the next cutting instruction is absent, a paper-returning instruction is given, an upper tractor 201 and a lower tractor 202 are rotated reversely, thereby returning the paper to a predetermined position, and when the next JOB arrives, a printing operation is repeated. Accordingly, unnecessary white pages inevitably formed at the leading end of each JOB can be reduced.
