PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of defects in the heat treatment of a ferromagnetic metallic film by providing a mixed layer between the ferromagnetic metallic film provided in the gap part of the metal-in-gap type magnetic head and a magnetic core. CONSTITUTION:The gap part 2 is formed on the bonding surfaces of a couple of magnetic cores 1a and 1b at least one of which consists of an oxide ferromagnetic substance through a film 3 of a ferromagnetic metal such s 'Sendust(R)' to form the magnetic head. The mixed layer 4b of the oxide ferromagnetic substances 1a and 1b and the metallic film 3 is provided at the interface between the oxide ferromagnetic substances 1a and 1b and the ferromagnetic metallic film 3. Consequently, the generation of defects in the heat treatment due to the difference in the thermal expansion coefficient can be prevented.
