PURPOSE:To obtain a display format to be easily observed by forming a control means for reducing characters other than a character specified by a cursor and displaying the reduced characters. CONSTITUTION:Only the character to be positioned by the cursor so as to be remarked is displayed with normal size and other characters are reduced and displayed. When both gate control signals SA, SB sent from a CPU 6 are logic level '1', a character font signal sent from a character font generating ROM 10 is sent to a display unit 14 as it is, normal display consisting of 24X24 dots is obtained. When the level of the gate control signal SA is converted into logic '0', only the font signal indicating dots in the even strings is sent to a display driving circuit 12 and half-size character display consisting of 24X24 dots is obtained.
