PURPOSE:To check accurately a printed board pattern by smearing away a land region added to a throughhole region of a printed board and a pattern connected thereto and detecting the region subject to smear-away and the region not smeared away. CONSTITUTION:The black/write level of a picture element parted by a prescribed distance (l) from the gravity center in horizontals or vertical direction to a throughhole region I based on the gravity center coordinate (X1, Y1) calculated already and number of picture element (white level picture element region) of the throughhole region I. When a black picture element region is detected, it is discriminated to be the presence of the land region and semaring processing is applied from the black picture element into the white level picture element. The prescribed distance (l) is present in response to the number of picture elements of the throughhole region I so as to be corresponded to the throughhole region of various sizes. The result of smearing is outputted externally on a CRT or a printer by using an output section 5. The printed board pattern is collated visually depending on the output state to detect the location of a defective part.
