PURPOSE:To transfer high-quality colored images under a superimposed condition, by stably carrying transfer paper by attracting part of the non-transferred surface of the transfer paper with a fan while suspending it. CONSTITUTION:When the presence of transfer paper 1 is detected by a noncontact sensor 7 provided in a clamping mechanism 5, a retaining claw 27 is closed by the force of a spiral spring 31 installed to a rotatable shaft 30 and clamps the transfer paper 1 without giving any press mark to the leading edge section. After the transfer is completed, a slider 34 is moved in the attracting direction of a linear solenoid 24. Then a cam 25 fixed to the slider 34 is also moved in the same direction and interferes with the rotationally moving route of a counter lever 35. When the counter lever 35 is rotated, the retaining claw 27 is slightly rotated and opened and a pin 28 interlocked with the claw 27 moves a hole provided in a holder frame 26 upward. Then the transfer paper 1 is pushed up by its non-transferred surface and separated and released from a transfer drum 6.
