PURPOSE:To provide a mold for compression molding, simple in manufacturing, by a method wherein an insert mold, provided with a preformed vent hole, is inserted into a through hole bored through either one of a top force or a bottom force, which compresses material to be molded. CONSTITUTION:In a mold for compression molding, which effects compression molding by employing wood fibers, a through hole 7 is bored from one side to the other side of a bottom force 3 by a drill, capable of penetrating by one process and having a comparatively large diameter. On the other hand, an insert mold 8, formed with a predetermined vent hole 6 at the inside thereof while the outer diameter thereof is a size capable of being inserted into the penetrating hole 7, is manufactured as a separate body. The insert mold 8 is manufactured simply and precisely by casting, machining a pipe or the like. The insert mold 8 is inserted into the penetrating hole 7 and the bottom force 3 around the insert mold 8 is caulked, thereafter, the insert mold 8 is fixed to the bottom force 3 through welding or the like. Finally, the surface of the bottom force 3, which forms a cavity 4, is machined and ground to finish it. The vent hole 6 may be formed simply in such a manner.
