PURPOSE:To prevent the increase of the force caused by attachment of the dust when a magnetic head carriage is moved by adding a mechanism to eliminate the dust attached to a guide shaft. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head carriage 1 has a through hole 4 through which a guide shaft 2 is put. Thus the carriage 1 can move smoothly along the shaft 2 inserted through the hole 4. While a dust eliminating mechanism 3 has a through hole 4 through which the shaft 2 is put and is attached to the carriage 1. Then the dust attached to the shaft 2 is removed when the carriage 1 moves along the shaft 2.
