PURPOSE:To provide an anti-rotavirus agent for mammal, containing sodium polyacrylate and exhibiting excellent anti-rotavirus activity by oral administration. CONSTITUTION:Sodium polyacrylate is used as an anti-rotavirus agent for mammal. The average molecular weight to the sodium polyacrylate is preferably 100,000-10,000,000 and the dose of the sodium polyacrylate to be administered is preferably 0.02-0.2g/kg. Sodium polyacrylate remarkably suppresses the proliferation of virus at a concentration of >=200ppm and is expected to be useful as an anti-rotavirus agent for man and domestic animals such as cattle, pig, sheep, etc.
