PURPOSE:To attain versatile storage service such as busy/absence substitution service and automatic answering service for each subscriber by devising the titled system that a mail box number is identified from subscriber telephone numbers registered already for mail box. CONSTITUTION:When a subscriber 3a having a telephone number DN=n1 is registered in a main box B1, it is stored as shown in a subscriber management table 63. Suppose that a subscriber 3c uses the telephone number DN=n1 in common with the subscriber 3a. When the subscriber 3c is registered in the mail box B3, it is distinguished from the mail of the subscriber 3a by using a mail box identification flag P. Further, the presence of automatic transmission is set by using an automatic call identification flag (s).
