PURPOSE:A lowering agent for blood sugar effective for preventing and remedying diabetes, having no toxicity at all, capable of being administered as part of meal, containing melanoidine reaction or a precursor thereof. CONSTITUTION:A lowering agent for blood sugar value containing melanoidine or a precursor thereof. Melanoidine is the final reaction product formed by aminocarbonyl reaction of an amino group-containing compound and a carbonyl group-containing compound, especially preferably melanoidine obtained by reaction from casein and glucose. The lowering agent for blood sugar value has durable lowering action on blood sugar and is effective for remedying and preventing diabetes.
