PURPOSE:An antiblast agent, containing a specific epoxy derivative containing eicosapentaenoic acid obtained from fish oil, etc., in a large amount at a low cost as an active ingredient and capable of exhibiting improved effect on inhibition of germination of Piricularia oryzae spores and elongation of germination tubes in a very small amount. CONSTITUTION:An antiblast agent containing an epoxy derivative of a highly unsaturated fatty acid containing eicosapentaenoic acid (abbreviated to EPA) expressed by formula I or docosahexaenoic acid (abbreviated to DHA), expressed by formula II, attracting attention as a preventing and treating agent for thrombosis, arteriosclerosis, cerebral infarction, etc., and obtained from fish oil, etc., as an active ingredient. The above-mentioned active ingredient is obtained by subjecting mainly a triglyceride of 14-22C saturated and unsaturated fatty acids contained in the fish oil to ester interchange to give an ester, adding urea, subjecting the ester to simple distillation, purifying the distillate by chromatography using silica gel supporting silver nitrate to form high-purity EPA or DHA, reacting the resultant product with an organic peracid and roughly separating the product by silica gel chromatography.
