PURPOSE:To enable an adjustment in setting an initial position in a printing position detecting sensor to be performed easily and securely, by effecting a linear feeding along a linear scale by converting an eccentric motion of an eccentric cam into a rectilinear reciprocation. CONSTITUTION:Position adjustment in X-direction along a linear scale 11 is performed by minutely turning an eccentric cam 24 in a predetermined direction by a predetermined amount at a time by a screw driver or the like. Then, cam guide frames 251, 251 of a holder support frame 25 are energized in the turning direction according to the quantity of eccentricity of the cam 24, and a holder base 22 is linearly fed by a minute amount at a time along the scale 11 while being guided by a fitting part of a guide groove 21 and a projected streak part 23 and fitting parts of the scale 11 and cut grooves 262, 262 provided at the tips of arms of a sensor holder 26. A signal from a sensor 15 at that time is observed on an oscilloscope, and when the center of a signal waveform coincides with a zero point on the oscilloscope, it is judged that the center of the sensor 15 is positioned at the center of the scale 11.
