摘要 PURPOSE:To make it possible to effectively suppress occurrence of afterburning for a specified period of time when resuming fuel supply after fuel coutoff in deceleration by compensating a normal ignition timing set according to running conditions of an engine toward an advance side. CONSTITUTION:When a deceleration fuel cutoff to an engine is performed by the action of a fuel supply control means B and then the fuel supply is resumed, the resumption of the fuel supply, namely the restoration of fuel, is detected with a running condition detection means A. And at the time of the fuel restoration, an ignition timing compensation means D forcibly shifts an ignition timing set with an ignition timing setting means C to an advance side for a specified period of time based on the output from the running condition detection means A. Thus, occurrence of after burning can be avoided even if unburnt mixture remains in an exhaust passage when the fuel supply is cut off or when combustion temperatures are low and exhaust gas temperatures are relatively low during the specified period of time during the fuel restoration.
