PURPOSE:To stabilize operational control and to improve nozzle life by controlling the opening or shutting of a nozzle based on a measured value of molten steel poured from a sliding nozzle apparatus and also holding a nozzle to a fixed position in case of the measured value to be in this specified range. CONSTITUTION:An output from a load-cell 7 for weighing attached to a tundish 6 is supplied to a comparator 22 through a tundish weighing device 21, and an output to compare with the reference setting is supplied to a computing element 24. In the computing element 24, in accordance with a signal from the comparator 22 and a differentiator 25, a signal of nozzle opening degree is outputted to a driving circuit 28 to drive a sliding plate 4b of the sliding nozzle apparatus 4. Further, an upper limit and lower limit as a blind sector for the measured value are set up and in this range, the nozzle is held to the fixed position. In this way, the operational control is stabilized and the service life of the nozzle is improved.
