PURPOSE:To make it possible to retrieve exhaust energy and braking energy over a wide engine operation range, by disposing alternators in an engine turbocharger and on axles, and by providing a means for controlling the lalternators in accordance with the load of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A turbocharger 4 having an alternator 5 and an exhaust turbine 6 having an alternator 7 are connected to an exhaust pipe 3 from an engine 1, and an alternator 8a is provided on a drive axle 8a for wheels 8. Further, a controller 10 receives variations in engine rotational speed, accelerator position, clutch position, gear positions, boost pressure and exhaust pressure detected by various sensors 1a through 1d, 2a, 4d, and controls heat recovery. That is, a battery 11 is charged by the heat energy of engine exhaust gas, power from the battery increases the supercharging pressure, the recovery of exhaust energy assists the drive force of the vehicle, and energy retrieved from engine braking force and wheel braking force changes the battery.
