PURPOSE:To automatically perform the troublesome operations such as the clamp adjustment, the white balance adjustment and the gamma correction of a signal level with high accuracy and in a short time by automatically adjusting the characteristic of a signal processing circuit such as the clamp level, the white balance and the gamma correction of a color television camera device by using a control signal. CONSTITUTION:The data of the clamp level desired to be set to a memory 21 is stored, the difference from the level obtained from the frequency distribution is detected by a microprocessor 18 to generated the control signal. For instance, the clamp level obtained from the frequency distribution is higher than the level desired to set, a negative (positive) control signal and a positive (negative) control signal, if it is lower than the level desired to set, are generated by the quantity corresponding to the difference of the signal to adjust it. then, a secondary signal is inputted through a switch 22 again to obtain the frequency distribution of R, G, B signals and define the high light signal of the R, B signals. The gain of the R, B signals of a white balance circuit 9 is adjusted so as to make these signals coincide with the high-light level of the G signal.
